Petainer, the plastics packaging technology business has supplied 200, 250 and 750 ml light weight polyethylene terephthalate (PET) containers for Sweden-based manufacturer of dry and liquid flavored products and flavorings, SourceFood.
Petainer group chief executive Nigel Pritchard said truly sustainable packaging provides value by being safe, secure and economically effective and it should also be reusable and recyclable, ideally.
"Our packaging meets all of those requirements and helps brand owners like SourceFood to increase the appeal of its products, to sell more of them and to improve their environmental performance," Pritchard added.
According to the Czech Republic-based Petainer, the unbreakable PET is inert and does not react with foods. It also is resistant to attack by micro-organisms and does not biologically degrade. The use of PET for food packaging is approved by food safety agencies and regulatory authorities around the world.
PET provides health and safety benefits during production and there are no risks of sharp edges on containers or fragments contaminating the food due to production failures. Its flexibility enables the design of various shapes which help to establish product identity, Petainer claims.
