Orca Bay Seafoods has introduced a single serve line for its retail products in the US.
According to Orca Bay, the single-serve package gives consumers an option to buy smaller portions that the company’s traditional 10oz bags.
Available for 14 seafood products of the company, the new line eliminates one layer of plastic from the waste stream.
Orca Bay Seafoods director of product development Roger Fickenscher said: "With consumer awareness firmly focused on sustainable practices, we wanted to provide packaging options that mirror our Common Sense Sourcing philosophy of doing business."
The company claims that the new line is not only user friendly, as the items are portioned and available with or without ingredients such as fresh herbs and rubs, it is also eco-friendly.
Orca Bay Seafoods marketing and communications manager Lilani Estacio said: "It’s a ‘win-win-win’ not only for the environment but for consumers because they are still getting a natural, healthy, and delicious product but even more convenient.
"The Single Serve packaging lends itself to be more flexible, both in weight and in value-added ingredients, to what our retail customers might want to carry in their freezer section."
Founded in 1985, Orca Bay Seafoods distributes retail and foodservice seafood products, including the Orca Bay brand club store, 10oz, and now 5oz retail lines.
