Mondi introduces new grease resistant paper for confectioners

UK-based paper and packaging group Mondi has introduced a new grease resistant paper grade for packaging of confectionery and biscuit products.

Mondi said the Advantage MG White Cote GR paper made on a machine glazed machine (MG) is lighter and therefore cheaper than alternatives on the market.

The firm said that only bleached virgin kraft paper from PEFC certified suppliers is used to produce the grade, which does not affect the strength of the paper.

Mondi Kraft Paper CEO Christian Skilich said the new grade also offers a good printability level. The clay coated surface of the paper ensures excellent printability on Flexo printers.

The company said a special functional chemical treatment of the fibre enables the high grease resistance level requested by "demanding applications" such as in the confectionery and also pet food industry.
