Just Label will collaborate with Farm Aid, a benefit concert series to promote mandatory federal labeling of genetically engineered (GE) food at Farm Aid's annual benefit concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania, US.
Just Label It director David Bancroft said GE foods labeling is about the rights of the farmers who grow their crops and as well as the US families.
"Farmers should have the right to purchase, plant and save non-GE seeds, and to grow their crops without fear of GE contamination," Bancroft said.
In the Homegrown Village area of Farm Aid 2012, a music and food festival will be able to sign the petition of Just Label It urging the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to mandate GE foods labeling. More than 1.2 million Americans have already signed the petition.
Just Label It is said to be a significant step towards transparency in its food system that benefits eaters and farmers alike.
