Italy-based Seda International Packaging Group has begun construction at the 323,610 f2 building that it bought in the Park 94 business park in 2010.
Seda said the expansion worth $76m will create 189 new jobs and allow the company to manufacture paper packaging products for the food industry.
The project will include footings and foundations for manufacturing equipment and an added mezzanine that will house offices, exterior modifications and the removal of all loading docks on the building’s east side; they will be replaced by windows.
The project will also involve installation of cooling and electrical units, and silos to hold plastic and paper materials, as well as additional landscaping.
The firm said that work will also include painting and sealing cracks to prevent the entry of dust and insects because its products are used by the food industry.
