ISPE releases guide to streamline packaging operations

The ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) announced new guidelines with respect to the commissioning of PACLAW (packaging, labeling and warehousing) facilities.

The guide presents an approach to satisfying CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) in accordance with FDA regulations while providing realistic solutions to business and operational concerns, ISPE claimed.

The guide covers facility design issues for most primary packaging operations, such as filling and other packaging, labeling and warehousing processes, and addresses Quality by Design principles, in addition to reconfiguration guidelines.

According to ISPE, the Good Practice Guide ensures that the industry gets access to tools to make PACLAW processes efficient, whereby established best practices can be evaluated against each other.
