US-based Inland Label in collaboration with CBW Automation, Mold Masters, Tech Mold, PolyOne and Milacron, developed a roll-fed injection in-mold-labeled syringe, which is enhanced with brand security measures.
Sensing a significant opportunity in the pharmaceutical industry, the team of companies came together to develop this technology, said healthcarepackaging.com
Injection in-mold labels are said to frequently provide better protection than the direct screen printing and pressure-sensitive labels.
The small diameter of the syringe needs thin gauge substrates, down to 45 to 50 micron, enabling roll-fed IML to be an efficient labeling process.
The company also enhanced the roll-fed IML product with addition of security features in three different levels of overt, covert, and forensic that can be incorporated within the roll-fed IML syringe, giving a range of options to authenticate their brand.
