Heinz Ketchup has unveiled the 'Join the Growing Movement' on its PlantBottle containers to raise awareness about sustainabiliy and plant more trees through consumer participation.
The PlantBottle packaging is used as a strategic partnership with Coca-Cola that commercialized the cutting-edge technology.
Heinz bottles at retail stores and restaurants are now made from up to 30% renewable material derived from sugar cane, which possess the same look and feel of traditional PET plastic.
Using a QR code on the back of the Heinz Ketchup bottle and scanning through the smartphone, consumers can participate in the ‘Join the Growing Movement’ by helping Heinz plant a tree.
Heinz has partnered global ecological conservation body, The Nature Conservancy, to plant a total of 57,000 trees.
HJ Heinz Foodservice Ketchup, Condiments & Sauces vice president John Bennett said the firm is committed to pursue innovations and technology that help to be environmentally responsible.
"This program celebrates not only what Heinz is doing to be more sustainable, but also how everyone can do their part to live a more eco-conscious lifestyle." added Bennett.
