German food packaging company Spies Kunststoffe is set to open an £8m warehouse in Worcester, as part of its strategy to expand into the UK.
In this regard, Spies has inked a deal with Norton Parkway Developments to open a manufacturing plant of up to 120,000ft². The plant is expected to create 50 to 70 temporary jobs in the construction phase and between 70 and 100 permanent jobs if Wychavon District Council approves the plan.
The company has negotiated talks with Worcestershire County Council over the proposals and Wychavon District Council is due to receive a planning application in October 2012.
Once the plans are approved, building work of the proposed plant could start in 2013.
Under the proposal, the warehouse would be located next to the town’s EnviroSort recycling center.
