Blow molding and custom injection molding manufacturer, Currier Plastics plans to invest $20.8m to construct a new 55,000ft² production and storage facility in Auburn, New York, in a bid to double the size of its existing operation.
The company will use $1m in Excelsior tax credits and a $750,000 Economic Transformation Grant from Empire State Development in this regard.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the project serves as an example of the Central New York Regional Council recognizing and supporting a main local asset that is growing the local economy.
"The expansion of Currier Plastics demonstrates New York’s commitment to strengthening our home-grown companies so they can continue to create jobs in the communities they helped build," Cuomo said.
The company will also invest $12.5m to purchase new machinery and equipment over the next five years, in order to handle the increased production and new contracts. The project is set to complete in 2013.
