Metal packaging products supplier Crown has announced the commercialization of two new Southeast Asian facilities in Nong Khae, Thailand and Da Nang, Vietnam.
In June, the company’s Nong Khae facility will start producing beverage cans on one line. Its annual production capacity is estimated to be 500 million two-piece 33cl aluminum cans.
Crown Asia Pacific Beverage Cans, SE Asia vice-president Frank Koh said in response to the growing demand and increasing consumer preference for beverages packaged in aluminum cans in Thailand, its new plant will produce 50cl cans and 33cl sleek cans.
"This is the first time Crown will be producing the sleek format in Asia, and it is part of Crown’s strategy to offer more options for both local and regional customers who are looking to refresh their packaging mix," Koh said.
Crown’s Da Nang plant started commercial production in early May nearby in Vietnam, with one can line in operation and a production capacity of 720 million 33cl cans initially.
The facility is the company’s fourth beverage can plant in the region.
