CCL Industries buys pharmaceutical label business of Graphitype

Canadian converter of pressure sensitive and film materials CCL Industries has purchased the assets of Australia-based Graphitype Printing Services’ pharmaceutical division for A$7m ($7.2m).

The acquired pharma label business will change its trading name to CCL Label with immediate effect.

CCL president and CEO Geoffrey Martin said the company has made similar acquisitions in the recent past.

"The excellent facility in Sydney and the great team assembled by the Morris family while building the business will strengthen our position in Australia with sites now located in both of the key pharmaceutical manufacturing centres in the country," Martin added.

CCL said the division, which reported sales of A$7.3m ($7.5m) for the period ending 30 June 2012, produces labels and patient instructional leaflets for pharmaceutical customers in Australia and will complement its existing CCL Label Healthcare operation in Melbourne, Australia.
