US-based beef processing firm Cargill is all set to introduce its ground beef products comprising finely textured beef with new labeling before 2014 grilling season.
The new labels will contain a declaration, ‘Contains Finely Textured Beef.’
The latest move comes on the heels of the increasing demand from consumers for transparency in how agribusiness companies make the food they eat and the way products are displayed on the packaging.
Cargill Beef president John Keating said a research conducted by the company shows that consumers believe in clear labeling of ground beef products containing finely textured beef.
"We’ve listened to the public, as well as our customers, and that is why today we are declaring our commitment to labeling Finely Textured Beef," Keating added.
The research also revealed that consumers respond positively on learning making process of the finely textured beef, which is 100% pure beef and 95% lean.
