Boston Scientific eyes greater benefits with Packsize

Boston Scientific, a corrugated boxes firm, is pursuing the Packsize system to do away with excess box inventory and to come out with a solution that would be ideal for device shipments on a just-in-time basis.

Packsize International equipment enables the firm to ensure the distribution process is efficient by selecting the optimum box size with precise quantity, size and style, reported greenerpackage.com.

According to the firm, three Packsize converting machines were integrated with the Kerkrade warehouse management system that led to calculation of the right size of box for each order, so the Packsize machine does the appropriate cutting.

Boston Scientific operations director Frank Moonen said freight charges and shipping damages led them to look around for high-quality boxes, and it was vital that the equipments deliver boxes with respect to the internal picking speed.

"If that were not possible, then we could not finish orders all of the time. Packsize helped us accomplish our strategic goals by reducing our shipping damages and saving us freight, [paper]board, and storage costs." added Moonen.
