Bosch Packaging Technology has announced an investment of €13m to open a new assembly hall for its pharma business unit in Crailsheim, Germany.
According to Bosch, covering an area of 6,600m² the new assembly hall offers additional capacity for the manufacture of large-scale installations for the sterile filling and packaging of liquid pharmaceuticals.
The facility is expected to be operational in November 2012. With a total area of 2,200m², the project is complemented by an office complex and the new premises are expected to be ready for use in May 2013.
Bosch has raised the terrain level by up to six meters in order to build the new assembly hall. The entire complex uses a biogas plant to provide heat, while gas is transported to the Bosch site through pipelines from a local farm.
Bosch said that the design reduces annual CO2 emissions by over 450t.
