Ball has announced plans to invest $8.5m to expand its metal food and household products packaging manufacturing plant in Springdale, US, according to a news release from the city’s Chamber of Commerce.
As part of the expansion, the company will install a high speed production line, which will produce aerosol cans used for paint, health and beauty items.
Chamber president Perry Webb said Ball’s expansion is another instance of its economy’s continued post-recession growth.
"Manufacturing in Springdale continues to show strong signs of growth while our employment numbers continued to climb. Ball is a long-time employer in this community and this expansion is great news for our city," Webb added.
The Springdale plant, which was selected to receive Ball’s R David Hoover Sustainability Award in April 2012, produces metal food cans and ends in its 286,000ft² facility.
Ball supplies packaging for beverage, food and household products customers.
