Arla Foods, a global dairy company has developed a mobile packaging facility for milk powder using three 40ft containers to test new markets for the product in Africa.
The container, which is 90m² in total, is capable of receiving 40 sacks of milk powder of 25k each from the Danish powder plant Arla Foods Akafa.
According to the company, the sacks are emptied into a funnel that sends the powder into a packing facility machine through a closed pipe system to be packed into 25g.
The roof of the container is covered with 96 solar panels, which can deliver 12 hours production time a day.
In August 2013, the packaging facility will be sailed from Denmark to the Ivory Coast where Arla will sell milk powder in small consumer friendly packages in cooperation with a local partner.
According to the plan, the facility is expected to be up and running by October 2013.
