Switzerland-based packaging solutions provider, Aisapack will launch a single serve beverage format, Aisacan that enables drinks manufacturers to offer a point of differentiation.
The pack comprises rigid top and base sections with a flexible multilayer laminated film for the main body and offers sustainability benefits over traditional PET and glass bottles, as well as enhanced branding opportunities.
The shoulder and base of Aisacan are injection moulded and together with pre-printed laminated film supplied by Huhtamaki, assembled in an Aisapack ACM1 machine.
The bottle’s flexible main body offers improved grip, due its ability to mould to the shape of individual hands, and its smaller opening helps to avoid spillages. The squeezability enables consumers to control and hasten the flow of the drink.
The new Aisacan is 60% lighter than an equivalent PET bottle, equating to a carbon footprint reduction for a 33cl bottle of 53% compared with PET hot fill, and 36% compared with PET aseptic.
Aisapack’s business development manager Jonathan Shaw said the entire package can be recycled as polyethylene, as part of the current European recycling systems.
Aisacan is available in 250ml, 300ml and 330ml versions and can be produced without decoration for subsequent sleeving, which provides the flexibility for smaller production runs or to accommodate family ranges with different flavours.
