Comcast, a leading telecommunications company, has announced the launch of another round of small business grant applications through its entrepreneurship program called Comcast RISE. The program, which was created in 2020 to assist small business owners affected by the pandemic, aims to support their recovery and provide resources for expansion and growth. Comcast RISE stands for representation, investment, strength, and empowerment, reflecting the program’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community investment.

Grant Details and Eligibility

The small business grant packages offered by Comcast RISE include a cash grant of $5,000, along with a range of valuable resources and services. These include business consultancy services, educational resources, production of a 30-second TV commercial, a media strategy consultation, a media placement schedule, and a free technology makeover from Comcast. In the latest round of grants, 100 businesses in each of the following metropolitan areas will be selected: Detroit (Wayne, Washtenaw, Macomb, and Oakland counties), Baltimore, Memphis, Philadelphia, and Portland.

Application Process and Timelines

For businesses in Detroit, applications for the Comcast RISE grants will be open between June 1-30, 2023. Interested small business owners in the eligible counties can apply during this period to be considered for the grant packages. The program has already assisted 13,000 business owners across the country, with Comcast demonstrating a continued commitment to supporting local small businesses.

Comcast’s Project UP and Digital Equity

Comcast RISE is part of a larger Comcast initiative called Project UP, which aims to advance digital equity. The program’s goal is to bridge the digital divide and provide opportunities for underrepresented communities to thrive in the digital economy. Through Project UP and Comcast RISE, the company has been able to empower small business owners, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, by offering financial support and access to valuable resources.

Positive Impact on Metro Detroit Businesses

Last year, several Metro Detroit-based businesses, including Foundation Management and Pietrzyk Foods, were awarded grants from the Comcast RISE program. These local companies benefited from the cash grant, as well as the various resources and services provided by Comcast. By extending the program to Detroit for another round of grants, Comcast aims to continue positively impacting the communities where it operates and help a broader range of small businesses in the region.

Empowering Small Businesses for a Stronger Future

Comcast RISE’s announcement of a new round of small business grants in Detroit and other metropolitan areas highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting business owners affected by the pandemic. By offering financial assistance, business resources, and technology makeovers, Comcast aims to empower small businesses and promote their growth and success. The Comcast RISE program, along with initiatives like Project UP, demonstrates Comcast’s dedication to diversity, inclusion, and community investment, ultimately creating a more equitable business landscape for all.
