Packaging Today International’s editorial team is not planning to give the magazine a face-lift this year but we are going to give the editorial a bit of a facial.
From this month onwards two new features will frequent our columns on a regular basis.
The first is aptly named ‘The Big Issue’. Each month one of four specialist writers will set out to be deliberately controversial. So we expect a healthy post bag.
This month Des King implies that digital print has missed the boat but then he always was one for a good debate. I wonder whether he is right? What do you think?
On a more serious note we are devoting much more space to high technology packaging. In January Dr Mai Chen documents performance testing carried out by Rohm and Haas in their development of acrylic/urethane hybrid adhesive systems for the flexible food packaging industry. The systems are intended to improve the performance of water-based acrylics by introducing urethane.
Next month Amcor Flexibles EuroPouch general manager Lars Boettzau and ready meals and pet food business development manager Gerwin Schalk will co-author an article on pouch applications.
Hopefully, more industry suppliers will contact me with their ideas and thoughts for this particular series.
We have great plans for our web site but we want to keep a few surprises up our sleeve!
