Specialist single-use medical devices group Vygon has purchased France-based Perouse Medical, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1984, Perouse Medical designs, manufactures and markets cardiovascular medical devices such as stents, vascular grafts and patches, radial compression and inflation systems, hemostatic valves, angiographic syringes.
The company also produces fluid management consumables for contrast media injectors for scanners and MRI.
In addition, the company manufactures long-term vascular access devices, including implantable ports, PICCs, Huber needles, catheter maintenance dressings.
Vygon management board chairman Stéphane Regnault said: "With this new acquisition, Vygon consolidates its position in the French and international markets, thereby demonstrating its determination to achieve by 2022 the objectives set out in its growth plan.
"Perouse Medical is renowned amongst health professionals for its strong expertise, the quality of its medical devices and its capacity for innovation. For these reasons, Perouse is a perfect fit for the Vygon Group development strategy."
The deal allows Vygon to acquire Perouse Medical’s patent portfolio that includes around 162 patents.
Perouse Medical operates in around 90 countries through a network of 200 distributors. It reported revenues of around €28.2m in 2014.
Vygon develops and markets single-use medical devices for healthcare professionals in hospital and for private and independent practitioners.
