Thermo Fisher gets antitrust approval for Dionex acquisition

Waltham, Massachusetts-based Thermo Fisher Scientific is expecting to close the acquisition of liquid chromatography systems manufacturer Dionex in the first quarter of 2011.

The scientific instrument maker has announced that it has received antitrust approval for its $2.1bn acquisition of Dionex.

Thermo Fisher said the transaction with Dionex would expand its business in the Asia-Pacific region, and help it do more business in industries such as environmental analysis, water testing, and food safety.

The company is also seeking similar clearances under antitrust laws of other jurisdictions.
