Taiwanese researchers develop cancer treatment system prototype

Researchers at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, have developed a cancer treatment system first-generation prototype.

The prototype includes Frequency-Adjustable High Frequency Induction Heating Machine (HFIHM) and 3D Magnetically Guiding Endoscope System (3DMGES).

The HFIHM uses nano-magnetic particles and heating technology to raise the temperature of tumour tissues, and when the temperature reaches 41.5 degrees Celsius to 46 degrees Celsius, the malignant cells are destroyed while the normal cells are preserved.

The 3D Magnetically Guiding Endoscope System allows front and rear, left and right, up and down movement as well as three-dimensional twist, and can be easily controlled which reduces operative time and patients’ pain.

Researchers are planning to initiate small and medium animal experiments of the prototype.
