The State University of New York (SUNY) is expected a groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled on July 14, 2009 for the proposed Central New York Biotechnology Research Center. The facility $20 million, 60,000-square-foot facility will create and support biotechnology, educational and research programs. The facility also will provide space to business involved in medical device development, medical research and biotechnology.
The Central New York Biotechnology Research Center, which uniquely partners two State University of New York institutions with a wealth of academic expertise, will cluster biotechnology and bioprocess research to form a critical mass that can attract high technology companies and associated manufacturers.
The Central New York Biotechnology Research Center will be built on four acres of the 14-acre former Kennedy Square public housing site between East Fayette and East Water streets.
