Stratos Genomics has been granted US Patent 7,939,259 titled ‘High Throughput Nucleic Acid Sequencing by Expansion.’
Sequencing by Expansion (SBX) is a method for converting DNA into a more easily-read polymer called an Xpandomer.
SBX is a solution to the intrinsic problem of sequencing native DNA at high-speed and low cost.
Xpandomers encode DNA base sequence information with high signal-to-noise reporters optimally positioned along the polymer chain.
Existing sequencing technologies overcome the signal-to-noise limitation through intensive sample preparation, complex processing and expensive instrumentation.
In contrast, SBX’s high signal-to-noise Xpandomers prepared by simple solution-based processing enables single-molecule sequencing on a range of affordable measurement technologies for servicing a full spectrum of genomic applications, including personalized medicine, pathogen identification and environmental monitoring.
