Stentys introduces new stent-delivery catheter in Europe

Stentys has announced the European launch of a new stent-delivery catheter to deploy the company's Self-Apposing stent in occluded tortuous vessels.

The new stent-delivery catheter features a hydrophilic (slippery) coating and an ergonomic handle to implant the stent in the coronary arteries and treat acute myocardial infarction.

The company said cardiologists implant the stents in the coronary arteries via a keyhole in the groin or in the wrist under angiography (X-ray imaging).

Stentys chief executive officer and co-founder Gonzague Issenmann said, "Feedback from cardiologists suggests the new delivery catheter is very user-friendly and we are confident this product enhancement will allow a greater range of patients to benefit from our STENTYS Self-Apposing stent technology."
