Spectrum Plastics Group has acquired Fermatex Vascular Technologies from Vance Street Capital for an undisclosed sum.
Earlier known as Gore-Jersey Shore and Adam Spence Corporation, Fermatex is engaged in the designing and manufacturing of engineered medical extrusions, braid reinforced extrusions and catheter sub-assemblies for medical device original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The firm is expertise in the contract design and manufacture of medical devices, and has been offering extrusions to the medical device industry for over 55 years.
Fermatex was first formed as Adam Spence Corporation in 1960. Later, the business was acquired by WL Gore in 2004 and again sold to Vance Street Capital in 2017.
Fermatex CEO Mike Janish said: “Spectrum Plastics is a natural extension for the reach and ambitions we’ve had here since we started last year and we look forward to embedding ourselves with their team.”
Spectrum Plastics Group is again rebranding Fermatex to Adam Spence based on its history and technological heritage.
With around 100 employees, Fermatex operates from two adjoining buildings, which includes certified clean rooms. The buildings cover a space of around 54,000ft².
Spectrum Plastics CEO Neil Shillingford said: “We are happy to welcome the Adam Spence team to the Spectrum Plastics Group. Its heritage and skills suit both our culture and objectives as leading medical device component and contract manufacturers.”
“Combined, during this era of industry transition, our operations present exceptional scale and capability to medical device OEMs seeking the proper manufacturing partner for highly specialized components, catheter delivery systems and sub-assemblies.”
Spectrum Plastics Group and Fermatex will showcase their solutions at the MD&M East show in New York City, which will take place in the second week of June. Fermatex will be presented as Adam Spence Vascular Technologies.
