Sony DADC BioSciences has joined forces with its Sony Medical Business Unit (MBU) to develop and manufacture smart consumables for its new SH800 cell sorting instrumentation system.
The new SH800 cell sorting system, which will replace the conventional flow cell in the SH800 and allow quick and easy changeover of the optical component, enables cell analysis as well as targeted isolation of cells for further analysis.
Sony DADC BioSciences head Christoph Mauracher said the company was chosen based on its technical and commercial merits in strong competition from other OEM manufacturers.
"The project presented significant technical challenges regarding redesign and precision including manufacturing to ISO 13485 standard," Mauracher added.
Sony DADC, a subsidiary of Sony, provides OEM services to life science companies as well as software services to entertainment, education and information industries.
