PositiveID submits 510(k) application for iglucose mobile health system

PositiveID has submitted 510(k) pre-market notification application to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its iglucose mobile health system.

iglucose is a wireless communication system which uses mobile technology that helps to manage diabetes by automatically creating electronic logs and journals of blood glucose readings to help ensure patient compliance and data accuracy, as well as to aid in insurance reimbursement.

The data-capable glucometer which reads blood glucose from an individual’s to the iglucose diabetes management portal can be shared with family members, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

PositiveID chairman and CEO Scott Silverman said submission of this application have lined up the appropriate partnerships that, they believe, will ensure a successful launch and commercialization of this system both in the US and abroad.

In addition to iglucose, the company continues the development of its other diabetes management projects which includes the non-invasive Easy Check breath glucose detection device and GlucoChip glucose-sensing implantable microchip.
