Paragon 28 has introduced new cut guide system, which is designed to control bone resection while addressing IM reduction in a Lapidus procedure
The new Paragon 28 Lapidus cut guide system will provide surgeon with eight different options for the desired amount of IM correction.
The system is also said to reproducibly guide cuts through the entirety of the joint resulting in congruent and accurate cartilage removal, which minimizes the chance of over-resection.
An integral dorsal to plantar taper on cuts made on the metatarsal in two different guide variations is provided to decrease the likelihood of first ray dorsiflexion intraoperatively.
Paragon 28’s advanced products and instruments will help surgeons streamline medical procedures and facilitate reproducible results.
In a first tarsometatarsal (TMT) joint arthrodesis, the first ray is expected to be over shortened due to over-resection of bone or an inherently short first ray.
The company said it is technically challenging to create cuts to achieve the precise amount of IM correction and simultaneously create congruent surfaces to promote bony apposition at the fusion site.
It is also difficult to avoid plantar gapping through removal of plantar cartilage from the soft tissue attachments.
In March this year, Paragon 28 launched new oust beaming screw system, which provides surgeons with 220 unique beam options to address Charcot foot deformity.
The system is made up of 5.0, 5.5, and 7.2 mm, solid and cannulated beams. The beams are Type II Anodized Ti-64AI-4V for improved fatigue strength.
All beams have a sharp tip for ease of insertion and are offered headless to minimize prominence.
The 7.2 mm beams are available in 65-185 mm in length to address varying patient anatomy and to aid in allowing surgeons to place a medial column beam into the posterior aspect of the talus.
The 5.0 and 5.5 mm beams are offered in 50-120 mm lengths to accommodate varying patient anatomies and to allow for increased bone capture.
Paragon 28 was established as an orthopedic foot and ankle company in 2010. The Monster screw system is the first product of the company.
