Ortho Clinical obtains CE mark for high-volume blood analyser

Vitro diagnostics company Ortho Clinical Diagnostics has obtained CE mark for its automated blood analyser Ortho Vision Max, paving the way for its sale in Europe and Japan.

Ortho Vision Max is a fully automated blood analyser for high-volume transfusion medicine laboratories conducting more than 50 types and screens a day. It supports complex procedures such as titrations, reflex tests and selected cell antibody identifications.

Max is a development over Ortho Vision Analyzer, launched in 2014 for small- to mid-sized transfusion labs.

Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Robert Yates said: "Ortho Clinical Diagnostics now provides a fully integrated and completely scalable transfusion medicine solution throughout the full spectrum of labs, whether the load is 15 tests or 150 per day."

"Labs are being pushed for faster turnaround of results and improved operational efficiency, yet they’re often short staffed. They need a suite of products that will enable them to disperse the work, improve time-to-result and better manage their contribution to the overall critical care path."

Ortho expects to gain through a portfolio of products operating on a single platform, which makes it easier for the users to deal with a single interface, order one set of consumables and streamline training for everyone in the department.

Th company secured 510(k) clearance for Ortho Vision Analyzer for Ortho ID-MTS Column Agglutination Technology, in August. It is now commercially available in the US and Puerto Rico.

The Analyzer enables transfusion medicine professionals to track critical steps in the immunohematology testing process.
