NOHFC supports RNA Diagnostics for Cancer Research

Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) has given $100,000 to Canada-based RNA Diagnostic for conducting further research into the development of their medical tool that evaluates the effectiveness of chemotherapy in patients.

The move follows the McGuinty government’s plan to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

The diagnostic assay is intended to identify whether chemotherapy is the proper treatment approach for breast-cancer patients, or if an alternative therapy is needed.

Sudbury Regional Hospital Regional Cancer Program affiliate scientist Amadeo Parissenti, who developed the tool, said the test can help oncologists determine if chemotherapy that breast cancer patients are receiving is helping them.
