MicroPort Orthopedics, a subsidiary of MicroPort Scientific, has introduced Profemur Preserve Hip Stem, a new short stem developed to support bone and tissue preserving surgical techniques.
Shorter stems are said to preserve bone and allows future revisions through a wider range of treatment options.
MicroPort Orthopedics hip product manager Patrick Gregory said: "As physicians evaluate the landscape of short stems, Profemur Preserve is attractively positioned to capture market share."
The company has designed Preserve Classic to maximize head center coverage with the fewest number of SKUs resulting in an optimized stem with virtually no technique learning curve.
Preserve Classic and Preserve Modular are part of the firm’s Simply Versatile platform, which helps surgeons to use classic and modular stems through the same surgical technique with a common set of instruments.
Based in Arlington of Tennessee, MicroPort Orthopedics develops and markets OrthoRecon products.
The company has operations in around 60 countries across the globe, including the US, EMEA, Japanese, Latin America and China markets.
