Iridex to launch new A&I XR laser probes

US-based Iridex is set to introduce new family of patented Adjustable & Intuitive Extended Reach (A&I XR) laser probes at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, which will be held between 18-21 October, in Chicago.

The A&I XR laser probes have been developed to use for laser photocoagulation during vitreoretinal procedures.

The A&I XR laser probes will be available in 20, 23 and 25-gauge models, and provides an option of finger or thumb actuators to smoothly guide the extension and retraction of the laser fiber.

Iridex president and CEO Will Moore said: "Our new devices further enhance our robust line of premium laser probes, and amplifies our efforts to quickly design and launch consumable products to further grow our procedural based recurring revenues."

Vitreoretinal procedures include the management of different conditions, which affect the vitreous and retina that lie on the back part of the eye, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachments or tears and macular holes.

Established in 1989, Iridex produces and markets laser-based medical systems, delivery devices and consumable instrumentation for the ophthalmology market.
