A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (IME) has entered into a research collaboration agreement with Delta Networks to develop a metamaterial (MTM) antenna.
Designed for wireless applications, MTM antenna will provide improvements in gain and radiation efficiency, reduction in power consumption and fabrication costs, while meet demanding requirements for small form factors at the same time.
In addition, IME will develop design techniques that are compatible with next generation wireless technology for high performance networking products, handheld devices as well as explore new wireless applications for medical and automotive fields.
IME executive director Dim-Lee Kwong said, "The synergy of Delta’s expertise and our engineering and scientific capabilities will result in novel technology that enables Delta to move into new markets more rapidly."
Delta Networks chairman Victor Cheng said the proliferation of new Internet-based applications is pushing the need for networking products that deliver faster speeds over larger areas with greater reliability.
"Leveraging IME’s exceptional research strength will enable us to develop innovative solutions to meet the increasing demands of performance in antenna technology," Cheng added.
