IlluminOss Medical introduces photodynamic bone stabilization system in Spain and Israel

IlluminOss Medical has introduced its photodynamic bone stabilization system, an orthopedic implant system to stabilize and treat bone fractures, in Spain and Israel.

The company has introduced the percutaneous, patient-specific implant system with Prim Ortopedia in Spain and with Trimaco in Israel.

IlluminOss president and CEO of Dirk Kuyper noted the company plans to expanding access to this technology, which can significantly enhance how orthopedic fractures are treated, in Spain and Israel.

"We are now commercially available in eight countries, providing patients and surgeons with an innovative and unprecedented fracture repair system," Kuyper added.

IlluminOss has already obtained CE Mark approval for the photodynamic bone stabilization system for light to low-load bearing indications. Currently, the minimally-invasive device is being used in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and The Netherlands.

The company is seeking the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval, as well as an expansion of its indications in the EU for the photodynamic bone stabilization system.

The device allows clinicians to repair bone fractures using a light-curable polymer contained within an expandable balloon catheter to achieve bone stabilization.

The procedure is made through a small percutaneous surgical approach providing patients and clinicians with a fast, customized method of orthopedic bone stabilization.

IlluminOss offers the orthopedic implant system directly to providers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland through IlluminOss Medical. IlluminOss partners with Medikon in Turkey, Mikai in Italy, and Pro-Motion Group in the Netherlands.
