Fort Belvoir buys BSD-500 Hyperthermia system

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital has purchased and installed BSD Medical's BSD-500 Hyperthermia system.

The Fort Belvoir Community Hospital is part of an integrated health care network which provides medical service to the wounded, active duty service members, retirees and family members.

The addition of hyperthermia to Fort Belvoir’s services provides patients an additional cancer treatment option to fight against cancer.

The BSD-500 System delivers noninvasive (external) hyperthermia by using antennas that are inserted into the tumor or interstitial hyperthermia.

The BSD-500 has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pre-market approval (PMA) for the use of hyperthermia alone or in conjunction with radiation therapy for the treatment of certain tumors.
