FDA approves VBOX portable oxygen concentrator

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared VBOX's portable oxygen concentrator for use on a prescriptive basis by patients requiring supplemental oxygen.

Trooper concentrator, which can be worn over the shoulder or around the waist, supplies high concentration of oxygen and is used with a nasal cannula to channel oxygen from the concentrator to the patients.

The company said when available in 2013, the Trooper may be used in home, institution, vehicle and various mobile environments.

VBOX chief executive officer William Still said the company launched the wearable Trooper device for patients who require supplemental oxygen.

"For many medical conditions that require oxygen therapy, exercise and movement is key to maintaining lung function, so a truly wearable oxygen therapy solution will make a significant difference in the quality of life for these individuals," Still added.
