ExpressMD Solutions, a provider of remote patient monitoring systems and services for patients with chronic illnesses, has installed Electronic House Call solution interfaced to DeVilbiss Healthcare's IntelliPAP AutoAdjust Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device, for selected patients of a National Home Medical Equipment provider.
The integration between Electronic House Call (EHC) in-home remote patient monitoring solution and the IntelliPAP device, used to treat obstructive sleep apnea, was designed so as the healthcare providers can comply with new Medicare PAP requirements regarding CPAP therapy.
ExpressMD said that the Electronic House Call allows providers to remotely monitor the use of the IntelliPAP device and intervene rapidly in the event that the patient encounters any issues with their therapy.
The complete ExpressMD telehealth solution combines Electronic House Call, an FDA 510(k) market clearance approved, in-home patient vital signs monitoring system with a web application that streamlines the practitioner’s job anywhere they have Internet or a Windows mobile communication device.
Joe Howard, vice president of marketing at DeVilbiss Healthcare, said: “Using this innovative solution for patients’ chronic illness management can reduce rehospitalizations and the severity of reoccurrences. Our combined solution allows providers to manage more CPAP patients without increasing related staff overhead costs, helps to improve patient condition outcomes as well as reducing the overall cost of patient care.”
Ronald Mills, managing director of ExpressMD Solutions, said: “Innovations like our new interface between Electronic House Call and IntelliPAP are substantiated by practical installations in the marketplace, like this one for the treatment of sleep therapy patients. We will continue to develop new market opportunities that support the management of chronic illnesses.”
ExpressMD Solutions is a joint venture formed by Authentidate Holding and EncounterCare Solutions to provide web-based telehealth services and home healthcare equipment dedicated to the advancement of in-home patient health care and improved chronic condition outcomes.
