DJO Global introduces new EMPOWR 3D Knee

Medical device solutions provider DJO Global has introduced new EMPOWR 3D Knee at the annual meeting of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, which was held in Dallas, from 5 to 8 November.

The new 3D knee was developed for young patients to restore natural and healthy knee motion, allowing them to actively participate in daily activities, as well as in athletics.

According to the co-designer of the 3DKnee, the new EMPOWR 3D Knee retains the proven articular surface design of the 3DKnee, and offers patients with stability, durability, strength and range of motion.

He also said that the new 3D Knee design retains all the functional benefits in a system, which is designed to optimally fit patients’ anatomy while giving surgeons more intraoperative flexibility and efficiency.

DJO Surgical president Brady Shirley said: "The EMPOWR 3D Knee leverages over ten years of proven clinical success and a strong history of natural kinematics which have been demonstrated by DJO Surgical’s legacy 3DKnee system.

"We are delighted to showcase the design team’s focused efforts which have enabled the commercialization of this total knee system in an extremely expedited timeline, demonstrating our dedication to precision innovation at DJO Surgical."

In June this year, DJO Global completed the acquisition of certain assets from Zimmer Biomet Holdings, which include the Biomet Cobalt bone cement, Optivac cement mixing accessories, SoftPac pouch and discovery elbow system for the US market.

DJO Global develops and markets medical devices for musculoskeletal health, vascular health and pain management.
