Digirad wins CE Mark for ergo imaging system

Digirad has received Conformite Europeene (CE) Mark approval for its ergo large field-of-view, general-purpose portable imaging system, (solid-state, general imaging Nuclear Medicine camera) to market and distribute throughout Europe and other countries governed by the CE body.

Digirad said that the ergo’s ergonomic, lightweight portable design enables imaging to be performed in the nuclear department and in other locations in the hospital, including the ICU, CCU, OR, ER, pediatrics, trauma units, patient floors, ambulatory services, women’s health and research areas.

Digirad CEO Todd Clyde said that the ergo imaging system provides institutions with the means to reduce costs for many procedures, improve patient satisfaction, raise productivity and flexibility, and generate revenues from new procedures all critical considerations for international hospitals.

The company reported that it had received its first European order for an ergo imaging system and that it will begin commercializing the camera in Europe in early 2011.
