Corgenix Medical introduces AspirinWorks Test

Corgenix Medical, a developer and manufacturer of specialized diagnostic kits for immunology disorders, vascular diseases and bone and joint disorders, has introduced a non-invasive AspirinWorks Test.

The AspirinWorks, a FDA-cleared test, determines the effect of aspirin on platelets by measuring the level of the biomarker called thromboxane B2 from urine samples.

The information allows physicians to individualize a patient’s therapy which may be as simple as adjusting the dose.

Unlike other platelet tests, which require freshly drawn blood that must be evaluated within four hours, the AspirinWorks Test only requires a urine sample that can be obtained at the doctor’s office.

The AspirinWorks Test is available to eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire area doctors through Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine.

Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine president and Medical Director Joseph Musto said AspirinWorks represents a test for physicians who realize that patients responding differently to different doses of aspirin.
