CardioFocus, a manufacturer of ablation systems, is offering its HeartLight Endoscopic Ablation System (EAS) in the UK to treat atrial fibrillation (AF).
HeartLight EAS uses catheter ablation technology that integrates an illuminating endoscope to provide physicians with direct visualization within a beating heart, in real time and without radiation.
The device also features an adjustable balloon catheter for improved contact with the pulmonary vein (PV) ostium.
The first AF patients were treated at The Heart Hospital in London.
CardioFocus president and CEO Stephen Sagon said with the addition of this UK center, they are continuing the introduction of HeartLight EAS to medical hubs across Europe.
"We are encouraged by the adoption of this technology by leaders in the electrophysiology community and are pleased to bring the possibility of a reproducible ablation option to an expanding number of AF practitioners and their patients," Sagon said.
