Cardiac Science receives US Military certification

Cardiac Science, a provider of automated external defibrillator (AED) and diagnostic cardiac monitoring devices, has received Airworthiness Release (AWR) certification from the US Army's Research, Development, and Engineering Command for the Powerheart AED G3 Pro automated defibrillator.

The Powerheart AED G3 Pro is tested for use in air, sea, and land operations and the certification indicates that the device complies with US Department of Defense medical device certification criteria.

The Army has commissioned the US Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) to perform in-flight and laboratory evaluations to determining airworthiness for the Powerheart AED G3 Pro in different conditions.

The Powerheart AED G3 Pro met the requirements to earn the certification, including testing for device usability, electrical safety, electromagnetic interference, extreme temperatures, vibration, exposure to dust and rain, altitude, rapid decompression, acceleration, and crash durability.

Cardiac Science CEO Dave Marver said the AEDs have earned the certification for use by the US Army in operations, whether by air, land, or sea and the clearance validates the performance of their AEDs in the challenging environments and conditions.
