Bruker receives NIST Order for Avance III spectrometer

Bruker, a provider of analytical magnetic resonance instrumentation, has received a major order from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for its ultra-high field Avance III 900 US2 NMR spectrometer.

The purchase, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), is expected to be used by NIST’s Macromolecular Structure and Function Group to develop nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methods and models for analysis of the molecular structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules and complexes formed by the molecules.

The research projects will support NIST’s measurement and standards programs for healthcare and biomanufacturing.

The 900 US2 magnet combines Bruker’s UltraShield active-shielding and UltraStabilized sub-cooling technologies yielding reliable 900 MHz magnet for NMR applications with a relatively small stray field and footprint for installations.

The Avance III 900 US2 system includes Bruker’s high-sensitivity CryoProbe technology enabling NIST researchers to perform measurements on very small quantities of sample.
