Accuray presents CyberKnife VSI System at ESTRO 29

Accuray, a global provider in the field of radiosurgery, has presented the CyberKnife VSI System at ESTRO 29, the Annual Congress of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology in Barcelona, Spain.

The CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System is the robotic radiosurgery system designed to treat tumors non-invasively anywhere in the body.

The CyberKnife System automatically tracks, detects and corrects for tumor and patient movement in real-time throughout the treatment using continual image guidance technology and computer controlled robotic mobility.

The clinical research presented at ESTRO demonstrates the benefits of CyberKnife radiosurgery in the treatment of primary early stage and metastatic lung cancer, including excellent disease control and preservation of quality of life.

Accuray said that the CyberKnife System’s motion management capabilities include the Synchrony Respiratory Tracking System, which enables real-time tracking and correction for tumors that move with respiration.

Erasmus MC-Daniel den Hoed Cancer Center Joost Nuyttens said that the Synchrony System is unique in its ability to correct for changes in a patient’s pattern of breathing in real-time and this allows to reduce delivery margins while eliminating the need for abdominal compression or breath-holding techniques.
