With the building extension, PI miCos now has more space to expand its capacities and further accelerate its speed of growth. Approximately 4,500m² are at the company’s disposal for development, construction, manufacturing and administration.
Lucius Amelung, managing director at PI miCos, is very pleased with the situation: "The new building section is a major improvement for us. It supports us greatly in opening up new markets and expanding to new target groups and product sectors by developing technologically innovative products for precision positioning."
Besides positioning stages with up to six motion axes, PI miCos will mainly focus on extending and enhancing system integration.
"Our aim is to develop even more flexible solutions for our customers. Here we will deepen our functional accountability and combine the precision axes with robotics and industrial imaging to a system," Lucius Amelung explains.
A step in this direction has already been taken: for equipping entire experimental setups in beamlines, a new business sector ‘Beamline Instrumentation’ has been created. In a further business sector, already today automated processes are implemented for manufacturing and testing assembly parts in photonics.
Thanks to the new building section, PI miCos has also gained in significance as a regional employer. Now there is room for 130 workplaces. "Currently we have 75 employees, but by the end of the year, we hope to have 90, and this shall only be the beginning," Lucius Amelung emphasizes.
In 2011, PI miCos became a subsidiary of the PI Group, located in Karlsruhe. The PI Group has about 750 employees worldwide and is a market and technology leader in precision positioning. Lucius Amelung, managing director of PI miCos, sees the extended building also as a sign of confidence from the parent company PI that strengthens PI miCos at its Eschbach location. "From here, we will extend and consolidate the international market leadership together with PI."
