Women Plan to Strike for Equality

Women are preparing for an almighty walk out to mark International Women’s Day on March 8th.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually and provides an opportunity to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of females both throughout history and today.

With the recent election of Trump and his controversial statements about women, the celebration this year is particularly important to civil rights activists.

The masterminds behind the recent Women’s March on Washington have launched a campaign titled #DayWithoutAWoman.

The group are calling on all women to boycott work in order to make a bold statement about the plight of women and girls all over the world.

‘In the spirit of women and their allies coming together for love and liberation, we offer a Day Without A Woman,’ a statement from the organizers read.

‘We ask: do businesses support our communities, or do they drain our communities? Do they strive for gender equity or do they support the policies and leaders that perpetuate oppression.’

Via social media, the group have revealed the date and basic principle but are yet to provide more detailed plans.

Not only did the Women’s March attract hundreds of thousands to Washington alone, but the movement inspired sister operations across the globe.

If the same momentum is gathered for #DayWithoutAWoman, one can only assume the impact would be widely felt.

In the words of Queen B, who run the world?
