Zurich Financial makes new appointments within group risk management

Zurich Financial Services has appointed Adrian Zweig to the newly created position of the head of risk analytics in group risk management, effective October 1, 2008.

In this new position, Mr Zweig will be responsible for further strengthening risk control, measurement, monitoring, modeling and strategic risk integration functions. As part of that Mr Zweig will lead the definition and the implementation of a consistent, value-based risk appetite and risk tolerance framework that reflects Zurich’s strategic goals. He will report to Axel Lehmann, group chief risk officer and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Mr Zweig joined Zurich’s investment management in 2003 and is currently the head of strategic asset allocation and asset and liability management (ALM). Before joining Zurich, Mr Zweig headed a business unit responsible for underwriting principle protection for alternative assets at Swiss Re and worked in various functions in risk management at UBS Investment Bank.

Sabrina Hart, currently the chief underwriting officer of specialties business unit of Zurich North America Commercial in New York, has been appointed to the newly created position of the head of risk operations in group risk management, effective October 1, 2008.

In this new position, Ms Hart will provide group-wide leadership for all operational risk management and control activities. In this capacity Ms Hart will also support and leverage regional shared service platforms. She will report to Mr Lehmann and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Carol Siegfried, currently the claims chief compliance officer at Farmers in Los Angeles, has been appointed to the newly created position of chief risk officer for North America, effective October 1, 2008.

In this new position, Ms Siegfried will be responsible for ensuring consistency and standardization of methods, processes and tools throughout the whole North America region. She will further enhance the regional shared service platform and strengthen risk governance across the entire North America region. She will report to Mr Lehmann and Keitha Schofield, CEO and president of Zurich’s shared services organization in North America. She will be based in New York, US.
