United America Appoints SVP, CFO

To help company expand its market reach

United America Indemnity has appointed Thomas McGeehan as its senior vice president and chief financial officer. Mr McGeehan will report to Larry Frakes, president and CEO of United America and its wholly owned subsidiary, United America Indemnity Group.

Mr McGeehan was appointed United America’s interim chief financial officer in May 2008, as vice president in February 2006 and as corporate controller in September 2005. He joined United America’s predecessor companies in May 2001 as vice president and controller from Colonial Penn Insurance Company, a subsidiary of General Electric Financial Assurance.

Larry Frakes, president and CEO of United America, said: After meeting with a number of high caliber external candidates, we came to the conclusion that the best candidate for this demanding role came from within the organization. Tom has been with the organization for over eight years, and has been an active participant in its development and evolution. Both his in-depth historical knowledge of UAI and his robust understanding of the multi-faceted financial requirements for this global organization make him well suited for this position.

Saul Fox, chairman of United America and CEO of Fox Paine & Company, said: Over the past year and a half during which Tom served as Interim Chief Financial Officer, he demonstrated the experience, judgment, work ethic, professionalism, integrity, and management skills required by this demanding position. We are delighted by Tom’s appointment.
